Meet our Founder
On a sunny Saturday morning in 1981, four college students went to a canoe livery in search of adventure. The owner refused to rent them boats due to high water conditions caused by a significant rainstorm 24 hours prior. The students left, determined to find boats elsewhere. Later that evening, the group went missing. With the water still high and strong, there was little rescue teams could do.
A few days later, one of the students was yet to be found. A young Rando Morgan joined in her search. Her mangled body was eventually found pinned underwater by woody debris. It was on that day that Rando vowed to make recreational rivers and streams safe for paddlers by removing the constant build up of hazardous debris.
In 2013, the teenager’s dream became a company. And in 2018, that company became a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization with an even greater mission. Today, River Rangers is renowned for keeping waterways safe and clean for people through the sustainable management riparian corridors including natural and man-made debris.
